in St Clements Church, Rhayader for the
Canadians who died when Halifax LL541 crashed
80 years ago on the hills west of Rhayader.
Please note the change of venue from St Brides Church, Cwmdauddwr.

Really sorry to have missed the event on the 12th Dec , i was unable to attend sadly i was called into Hereford last min for a long awaited Appointment , but looking at the photos it went well . so important to remember the lives lost .

I have just seen notice of this event on the Historical Rhayader and surrounding Area Face book page , i am very much hoping to attend , being a keen Military Historian for over 35 yrs now i covered the incident in my book which was published on 2017 (Early Birds and Boys in Blue a century of Radnorshire Aviation ) , i first visited the crash site of the LL541 back in 1982 , and have been on site many times , i have been corresponding with a relation of Sven Overland one of Air Gunners for some time now , and i will let her know of the event.

Hi Jenny , Many thanks for getting back to me , i am very much hoping to attend the event on the 12th Dec , Yesterday 16th Nov , i went up the site with David James , and 3 others , first time since 2016 , i have told Alane Niece to John Sven Overland Air Gunner , about the event and although she will not be able to attend she was thrilled that the crew will be remembered , hope to meet you on the day Rgs Phill

Hello Jenny again , sorry to bother you , but i wanted to pass this onto you , When we visited the Site of LL541 last Sat one of the party was Josh Hobbs , who works at RAF Brize Norton , he contacted me today , he has suggested if the project would like a flypast from a A400m Atlas aircraft from Brize Norton , (well he is trying to see if it would be possible) , as he said no promises anyway i have suggested he contacts you about this. Anyway i hope he contacts you so you can decide , just thought you should know about this please don’t hesitate to contact me if i can be of any assistance
